SD Putzzeug - Cleaning tool designed for the B&T SPC-9 SD, PDW SD, and SD-E
SD Putzzeug - Cleaning tool designed for the B&T SPC-9 SD, PDW SD, and SD-E
SD's get dirty fast
—it's part of the deal when running some of the baddest subguns on the planet. And while cleaning does need to be often, it no longer has to be tedious.
The SD Putzzeug enables you to leave the handguard on and clean everything underneath by stuffing the tool over the barrel and twisting. It uses 2 interchangeable birdcage-style heads, each loaded with 5 brushes/mops from the cleaning experts at Otis. Start with the brass head to break up the carbon, then finish with the mop head to swab it clean. The heads simultaneously clean the barrel, its ports, and suppressor mounted threads for all B&T SPC-9 SD models.

Design Notes
Design Notes
The Putzzeug, German for "cleaning tool", is designed with dissimilar polymers to handle the peak loads experienced by each part. The birdcage style heads are made out of PPA-CF for maximum strength and stiffness, whereas the handle is made from tough PETG-CF to accommodate the inter-layer forces. The head remains concentric via the conical shoulder, which also provides a friction-lock from only finger tightening. If overtightened, the heads include wrench flats to facilitate removal. The tips of the brushes/mops are retained within slotted ovular pockets such that, when in use, they rotate 90 degrees to their lowest stress state, effectively locking them into the head. Finally, the Putzzeug features the Lattice Tactical design motif of external isogrids, geometry optimized for its strength-to-weight ratio and traditionally relegated to the aerospace industry.
